Today, I found out I was nominated for a Liebster Blog Award by Jannine Bandiola from Dressupdolly. Thanks for nominating me Janine!
I was super excited about this. So, I decided to Google the Liebster Blog Award to find out when the Liebster Blog Award started and how it started. But, after scrolling through pages and pages of blogs that have been nominated, I still couldn't find the answer to my question. Until I stumbled on to this post by Sopphy says.
First, the word Liebster is German for kind and sweet. The Liebster Blog Award started around 2010. Unlike most blog awards, there is no voting or judges or anything like that. Instead, it's a chain. When one blog is nominated by another blog, that blog must answer the questions that the previous blog tagged them in.
Second, the tagged blog must answer the 11 questions that the previous blog (the one who nominated them) set for them. By answering the questions, you are, basically, "accepting the award."
***And don't forget to link back to the blog that nominated you!
***And don't forget to link back to the blog that nominated you!
Third, after answering the questions you must tag 11 other blogs with less than 200 followers and give those blogs 11 questions they have to answer.
Fourth, you must let the tagged blogs know that you nominated them.
Fifth, enjoy scrolling through all the awesome nominated blogs. (I know I'm seriously hooked on some of them!)
1. Why did you name your blog the way it is now?
I named my blog LillyRose because it was username I had been using for a while now. I made up the name when I was in middle school and just fell in love with it. The banner for my blog began as a brand label that I hope to create in to a store or something of that nature. And maybe one day, you'll see my brand on a label inside your closet, who knows. I'm still working out the details myself.
2. What type of camera do you use to take your outfit shots?
I use a Canon Powershot ELPH 520. It is a digital camera that can also record video, so I use this camera to film my YouTube videos also.
3. If you were to travel, which country would you go first?
I have already traveled to Australia, so I guess this other country wouldn't be my first. But, I would love to go anywhere in Europe or Asia or Africa or South America. (If you haven't got it already...I just want to travel the world) Right now, though I'm looking in to going to Prague, Czech Republic. The city is beautiful. Seriously, go Google it and fall in love with the beauty.
4. What is your favorite fashion piece?
My favorite fashion piece is...this is a lot harder to answer than I had imagined. I love so many things: short dresses, maxi dresses, high waisted shorts, tall boots, ankle boots, heels, sandals...okay, instead of going on and on. Right now, my favorite piece is my Levi's High Waisted Shorts. Check them out and maybe even make your own with this tutorial!
5-6. What fashion event would you like to be invited to? What would you wear to that event? Show me.
I would like to be invited to New York Fashion Week. I understand it's a stretch and probably won't happen, but a girl can dream. And a girl can also try to buy tickets.
I would wear something very high fashion and maybe even a little strange, but who wants to blend in at Fashion Week. The point is to express oneself through their clothes and accessories, of course, who can forget about those? So, I think I'm imagining an outfit that maybe...Carrie Bradshaw would wear?
I would switch out the fur muff for a clutch. But other than that. I love this outfit. I love the tulle. (Who hasn't dreamed about being a princess for a day?) And I love that the skirt is paired with a white t-shirt and a khaki blazer to add comfort and structure. The heels are awesome and have a cool transparent look. I love them!
7. Do you like K-pop?
I have friends that enjoy K-pop, but I find it hard to enjoy music when I don't understand the lyrics.
8. Who is your favorite fashion icon?
My favorite fashion icon is a Youtuber. Jenn's style is awesome and cool and has so many different aspects. She has, basically, changed my perspective on fashion. In one of her video's she said that fashion should just make you happy, so "wear what makes you happy." Her channel is clothesencounters. She has a great personality and an awesome sense of style!
9. Where do you always buy your clothes?
I don't buy my clothes in any one place. I have a lot of stuff from a lot of places and some where I don't even know where they come from...so, here's a list of where I buy my clothes from. Lately, I've been in to online shopping. I recently made a purchase from People Tree, they are a sustainable and fair trade clothing company. I love them. They're organic cotton t-shirts are so soft! I practically live in these. And I actually just did a haul of the clothes I bought from them here. I also love American Apparel. Yay! Where everything is made in the USA! I buy a bunch of t-shirts and skirts from there. And I love thrift stores. Especially, Diversity thrift, which is a local thrift store in Richmond. I occasionally shop at Goodwill and I either buy a crap ton of clothes or I buy nothing, it's always one or the other. I also love Ashby and Clementine, they are both stores in Carytown that sell gently used brand name clothes.
10. What are your must-haves if you were to go abroad?
My must-have would be my laptop, I am a child of the technological age, despite the fact that most technology hates me. I have to have my ipod to get my music and movie fix. I am a total addict. Fashion-wise, I would need a maxi dress and a maxi skirt because you can always layer on top of it for more warmth. Leggings are a must have for layering and for those lazy days. And black leggings go with everything. I would also need a striped top because it's a great piece that can be paired with pretty much anything. A turban and a hat for bad hair days. I love the patterned turbans they sell on Etsy. For hats, I would probably go for a fedora because those are a classic style. And, of course, you need a good pair of skinny jeans, preferably a dark wash, so that they can be worn out at night. And definitely a good pair of ankle boots that are comfy to walk in, so I would bring my Dr. Martens. I love those shoes. They're my babies! Wow...yeah...I don't pack light...
11. What are your favorite shoes? Show me.
My favorite shoes that I own are my floral print Dr. Martens. I broke these in and they are my favorite shoes! I go to work in these and my feet never hurt. I work in retail, so I stand for about 4 to 6 hours. The heel provides great support. I used to wear flats to work and there was not support whatsoever. I also love my cherry red Dr. Martens, but those aren't broken in yet, so less love for those. And there are actually two pairs of shoes that I want really bad. And they are Jeffrey Campbell Litas and Dolce Vita Girties. If I ever got these, they are never coming off my feet.
Alright, so that's it. If you're reading this, congratulations, you finished reading my long-winded answers! Sorry, it's so long. I like to talk. But here's your prize! You get to check out these awesome blogs I'm tagging.
