To the Simple Things

Hello Beauties,
Remember, my fifty dollar room makeover challenge?  I know it's been awhile since my last post.  School just started.  And I'm still trying to get in to the swing of things.  Let's get back to the challenge.  Shall we?
Well, after some clever swaps and some needed splurges.  I can proudly say that I completed the challenge in under fifty dollars.  But before I reveal my secrets to you.  I would like to say that my room makeover would not be possible without all the excess furniture in my house.  My sister recently moved out and left all her furniture here.  So, I had some fun going through her stuff and finding things I could use.

Honestly, it wasn't the furniture as much as the actual cleanliness of my room that made it seem as if my room had a makeover.  I didn't move that much furniture around.  Basically, all the heavy things stayed where they were.  So, I'll stop my babbling and let you see the results.

So, I think amidst all my stuff, I believe I lost my desk somewhere.  But I found it!  Now, my desk is a great workspace to do homework and perform some more DIY projects.  Everything is now somewhat organized in the cubbies.  In other words, it's organized enough that I can find what I'm looking for and that's all you really need, right?

Alright, so two things in this photo are different than the original.  The piano bench and the pink desk chair.  The piano bench came with my piano that is downstairs.  I don't play the piano as much anymore, so I decided to steal the bench to use as seating in my room.  The piano bench cost nothing.  But the pink desk chair was forty dollars at Officemax.  I would say its pretty comfy.  But what I like about it most is that it's small, unlike my old desk chair, which was huge!

Hey, you can see the floor again!  I took the coat stand fro my sister's room to store some of my clothes.  The things that are hanging there are some of my thrifted pieces that I will show in a lookbook video soon.  And on the clothing rack I have a ton of jackets, coats, and sweatshirts that won't fit in my closet.  But having my raincoat and my sweatshirts there make them easier to grab when I'm about to walk out the door.

And here's more floor space!  I'm still working on a place to put those two boxes of stuff somewhere, other than the floor.

On top of the armoire and the cabinet are my make-up organizer, which is the colorful cotton candy print box to the left.  To the right, I have my scrapbooking materials.  I used to love to scrapbook, but I just haven't had time to start one yet.  However, I keep all my pictures and tickets and such in a box, so that I have all the pieces to start a scrapbooking project.  Maybe, I'll even post a DIY project surrounding scrapbooks.   They make great presents and awesome displays of your fun adventures!

I have floor space.  Floor space is really important in a small room.

And here's my bed.  Yes, it's very girly.  I have had this canopy since I was eight.  And I absolutely love it.  After I watch a scary movie, I still believe that the canopy, after I cloak it around the bed, that it will protect me from the monsters.  I know it's illogical, but it helps me sleep at night.  Although, I'm scared of scary movies.  I absolutely love them!

Above my bed, there is a shelf.  I have my IHome, a papier mache box that I made in High school, and some CDs.  I also have some clothes there for quick grabbing.  Well, that's my room.  It's finally clean!
