Hello Beauties,
Today, I'm not talking about the romantic comedy. But I'm talking about a serious shopping problem. I have not reached the point where I owe credit card debt (yet). However, with the track I'm on, I'll be there soon enough. So, I am now publicly acknowledging my problem and doing something about it. Sometimes, this is the hardest step to take...well, guess I'm done now, right? I acknowledged the problem and "look there's another sale!"
Alright, I was kidding. But seriously like many problems the hardest thing to do is accept that you have a problem. I'm a college student and cannot afford to keep buying clothes and shoes. First, I don't have the money for it. Second, I have no room for it. And after a few hours of reading up on tips and tricks and the reasons why people shop, I have decided to write a blog post on the subject.
Like many people, I made a few new year resolutions. And like many, many people, I failed almost the instant I made them. I was going to use save money. But since making that resolution, I have bought over $600 dollars worth of shoes and clothes and may I remind you guys that it's only February. It looks like I'm screwed. Thankfully, I bought all the books I need for spring semester in December. So, school is fine and paid for.
But now, I have pretty much no money to spend. I do have a job, but it doesn't pay that much and I don't work that many hours. So my paycheck ranges from $26 to $175.
First step to recovery: Make a goal
My goal is to put $1,000 in to my savings account by May. I can do this, since I was lazy and still haven't deposited my Christmas money. That money is going straight in to savings, so at least I have a little start.
I feel like putting my goals in to writing for the public to see, helps me to keep them better because I promised not only myself, but also you guys.
Step two to recovery: Make a plan to achieve the goal
Goal don't happen overnight unfortunately, so I have decided to set aside fifty percent of every paycheck I receive towards my savings account. This should help me reach my $1,000 goal by May!
Step three to recover: Stop shopping for things I don't need
I have more than enough clothes and do not need to buy anymore. No matter how good the sale is.
Why do people shop?
Because it's fun...it's a (expensive) hobby. Because we are feeling down and need a pick me up. So, instead of shopping whenever I need a pick me up. I'll work out, do some yoga poses, pick up some knitting needles and finish that scarf I started making last year. I will reach my goal. I will reach my goal. I will reach my goal.
Think I can do it? Well, comment down below if you have any other helpful tips for me, I would love to hear from you guys!
