First Impressions: Exuviance Performace Peel AP 25

The phrase "skin peel" sounds very frightening, doesn't it?  But it doesn't have to be.  It doesn't have to be as dramatic as a snake shedding its whole skin off its body.  Skin peels can be gentle.  And, yes, you did hear right.  This skin peel is quite gentle on the skin.

The Exuviance Performace skin peel targets fine lines and wrinkles.  I know I'm a bit young for wrinkles but did you know that many anti-aging products can be good for people with acne prone skin?  I'm not a dermatologist or anything, but I've done my fair share of research.  Before seeing a dermatologist about my acne, I had severe cystic acne.  It wasn't pretty and I was super self-conscious about my skin.  Which meant that I piled on the makeup to cover my spots up.  (In the long run, probably made my skin worst...)  Anyway, my dermatologist got the perfect mixture of topical products and cleansers to clear my face up.

However, I still have pock marks and scarring from my days of cystic acne.  Anti-aging products help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  So, the ingredients in anti-aging products can also help reduce the appearance of pock marks and scars left from severe acne.  Again, I'm not a dermatologist.   I'm just sharing what I have found to work for me.

Anyway, this peel is super gentle and comes with clear instructions, which is very important to me because this is my first skin peel.  I was super nervous after reading about what would happen if I had a reaction to the product: "itching, burning, redness..."

So, I swiped a small portion of my cheek with the Step 1 Activator pad and waited for a few minutes to see if I would have any reaction.  After feeling only a slight itchiness and very little tingling, I proceeded to wipe my whole face with the Activator pad.  I felt the slightly itchy and tingly feeling all over my face, but nothing too major and waited for ten minutes.

After a minute or two, the itchiness and tingly feeling went away.  When ten minutes was up, I wiped my face with the Step 2 Neutralizing pad, which felt super refreshing on my skin.  Then I applied the Optilight Serum and the Evening Restorative Complex, which left my face super shiny.

The serum was an oily consistency and the restorative complex was a super rich moisturizer.  These products are perfect to apply after the peel because it restores all the moisture that was taken away from the peel.

I have combination skin, so most night time moisturizers make my face really shiny.  But the rich moisturizer keep my dry patches at bay, so there is no winning this battle.  At least, I'm not going out looking like an oil slick on my face.  I'm just going to lean back and get my beauty rest.

After one use, my face felt really smooth and soft.  I can't wait to try this product again later this week.  I think I'm going to buy the full size for my mother to try!
