Gel Manicures without the the UV light?

Ever since Gel manicures made its debut, people have been trying to replicate the long-lasting gel formula without the harsh UV light.  According to the skin cancer foundation, the UV light used to set gel nails can increase the chance of getting skin cancer due to excess exposure to UV light.  Do these "gel manicures" sound too good to be true?  It is.

I saw the commercial for Revlon Gel Envy polishes and decided to give it a try.  I loved the blue shade they showed on the commercial so much that I drove out to the drugstore to buy it.  The shade is a true cobalt blue color.  The color is called "Wild Card."

The consistency of this nail polish is quite thick, so you can get away with painting only one coat.  The thick consistency is a good and bad thing. The good thing: it's thick and super opaque.  The bad thing: it takes FOREVER to dry.  Seriously.  I hate waiting for my nails to dry.  And the thing that irritates me the most is when I think my nails are dry, so I start typing and doing things then I get the awkward imprints on my nail.  You know what I'm talking about, right? The scratch marks the pushed up nail polish at the tips of your fingertips.  Depending on how bad my nails look, I might re-do them.

When my nails are finally dry, I try very hard to not chip them.  But knowing me, I'll chip my nails the very next day.  Great.  This Gel Envy nail polish lasted about three days on my nails without chipping.  I even had the Diamond top coat painted on top of my nails and they still chipped.  Within the week, the tip of my thumb had no polish on it.  The rest of my nails lasted for another week.

I have to say these "Gel Envy" nail polishes last just as long as regular polishes.  The only thing good about these nail polishes are the AWESOME color selection and the thick consistency.

Have you tried these "Gel Envy" nail polishes?
