5 Easy Ways to Look More Awake

When you're tired and look like a zombie the last thing you need is concealer that settles on those fine lines, making you look older and even more tired than you already are.  Nobody likes the "Are you okay?" questions on those days.  You just want to finish the day and get the rest you've been craving.

To help fake a good night's sleep, you need a great primer, a good amount of high coverage concealer applied in the right places and an awesome mascara.  So, here are 5 easy ways to look more awake!

1. Primer
First thing you want to do is apply primer.  Primer will prevent the concealer from creasing and some even have toning and smoothing properties that can make your under-eye circles disappear.  I love using Christie Brinkley's Close Up primer to smooth out my under-eye bags and reduce puffiness.  This stuff has a great creamy texture that is super easy to apply and has amazing results!

To apply my primer, I apply three dots around my eye area and gently rub the product in with a circular motion.  This circular motion helps the blood flow: therefore reducing dark circles and puffiness.

2. Concealer
After priming my eye area, I like to apply concealer.   I always buy under-eye concealers one shade lighter than my skin tone.  A lighter concealer helps to brighten and lift the eyes rather than just concealing.
I apply my concealer in a triangular shape because it lifts the whole eye area, making your skin look more radiant and awake.

Then, I apply a bit of concealer in the inner corners.  This will really brighten the eyes, giving you a more awake look.

3. Nude Liner
After brightening the inner corners, apply a nude liner on your water line.  Compared to a black or brown liner, a nude liner looks softer and more natural.  The nude liner also gives your eyes a naturally brighter look.

4. Matte Eyeshadow
After lining my eyes, I like to apply a light vanilla matte shade on my lids. This will offset any darkness on your eye lids and complete the brighter, more awake look you are going for.

5. Mascara
The last step in my routine is to apply a lengthening mascara.  A lengthening mascara will open the eyes, giving you a more radiant and awake look.
